Neora Valley National Park is located near Kalimpong in the district of Darjeeling. It is considered as one of the best biological zones in the northeastern region. It is the land of Red Panda and many other varieties of animal species. Most parts of the park cannot be accessed due to dense Rhododendron outgrowths, bamboo groves along with flowing streams and rivers are guarded by the snow-capped mountains. The park extends up to a height of 10600 ft at Rechela Danda and the Neora River is perhaps the main source of water for the town of Kalimpong. Jaributi is the most beautiful place in the park and is the ideal place to look for good variety of medical plants. The park is inhabited by many wild animals like the Red Panda, Royal Bengal Tiger, Himalayan Black Bear, Serrow, Squirrels, Indian Gaur, Lesser Cats, Clouded Leopard, Deer, Himalayan Thar and Common Leopard among others. The park is also a home to a great collection of birds. Tourists interested in trekking will have a great time in the various trails through the park.
