Distance: 3 Km down the road from Kamalapur to Hampi
The Malyavanta Raghunatha Swamy temple is located on the boundary of Hampi. It lies just 3 km from the main Hampi city. At present, this temple can be easily reached through the state highway SH 49.
It is built around a huge bedrock in the Malyavanta Hill. The place around this temple was called as Kishkhindha. This temple brings into the picture, the story of Ramayana where the story revolves around Ramachandra, Lakshmana, Sita and Hanuman. The history unfolds that in a rainy season, Rama and Lakshmana took shelter in this place during their search for Sita, while Hanuman went in search for her. Revealing the story, this temple has the chisel of Rama, Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman. The positions taken up by these sculptures are Rama and Sita have a seating position whereas Lakshman stands erect in front of them and finally Hanuman, kneeling in front of them. All these sculptures were built in a single bedrock which shows the classy style of Dravidians.
