Kurmagad Island is a beautiful tortoise shaped island, 4 km from Karwar coast in the Arabian Sea. Kurmagad Island houses the ruins of an old historic fort and a Narasimha shrine. It is believed that the half Lion - half Human deity Lord Narasimha, the reincarnation of Lord Vishnu, had swam across the sea tearing it apart and came here to make the island it's habitat.
Tourists can enjoy nature walks, swimming, fishing, bonfires and barbecues, dolphin spotting, boat rides, aqua sports, rock climbing and more on Kurmagad Island. There are also several resorts available on the island.
