How to Reach Idukki, India
Idukki by Road:
The sojourn to Idukki by road will surely delight you immensely and create everlasting memories. The National Highway NH-49 (Kochi-Madura) passes through Idukki district. Further, Thodupuzha, one of the main towns in the district, is conveniently linked with other parts of the district and the state. You can hop into easily available buses from Thodupuzha station to numerous cities, including the district headquarters. Some road routes are Kottayam-Kumily, Munnar-Kumily, Madurai-Kumily, Thiruvananthapuram-Kumily, Thekkady-Kumily, Kodaikanal-Kumily, and Idukki-Kumily.
Idukki by Train:
Since most of Idukki is untouched by humans, there is no railway line in Idukki. Besides, the density of railway networks is comparatively less in Kerala. The nearest railway station is at Kottayam, located at a distance of 133 km. You can also board the train to other stations to reach Idukki, such as Madurai, Changanacherry, and Theni. The en-route scenic beauty is enchanting and enthralling. Railways offer a great time to spend some convivial time with friends and family.
Idukki by Air:
Those, who just can't wait to head to this God's own place, can opt for airline services to reach here. Idukki does not have an airport of its own but there are number of others nearby. The nearest airport to Idukki is Cochin, situated around 132 km away. You can also land in some other cities to reach the district, such as Madurai (140 km), Kochi (190 km), Thiruvananthapuram (265 km), Kozhikode (315 km), and Chennai (570 km).
