Haripur-Guler is a twin township in Kangra district famous for preserving the heritage of Guler Riyasat. The towns are separated only by a small river making it a haven for migratory birds. The hill in Haripur still has the ruins of various monuments and a fort built by Raja Hari Chand. There are a few temples as well as cave which make it a place worth visiting. The town is also famous for its traditional Kangra paintings.
Haripur is located on the Nurpur-Jwalamukhi road, between Nagrota Suriyan and Balta in the Kangra District. The place is located around 8 km east of Mangwal, 4 km north of Balta and 18 km south of Yol. Established in 1464, Haripur is historically significant, since it is the hometown of the famous Kangra miniature paintings, popularly known as Pahari Paintings. The age-old fort and water springs at Haripur are popular tourist destinations.
