Gun Hill is one of the prominent attractions for tourists visiting Mussoorie. Renowned as the second highest peak Mussoorie, Gun Hill has an interesting history behind its etymology. It is believed a big gun was fired from the Gun Hill every afternoon, in order to help people know the time and adjust their watches accordingly.

The cable car ropeway to reach the top of the Gun Hill is one of the major crowd puller and the peak offers some panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges namely Bunderpunch, Shrikanta, Pithwara and Gangotri group and a bird's eye view of Mussoorie town and the Doon valley. The views from the top of this scenic peak will you spell bound.

Another attraction of this peak is balloon shooting, so come and test your shooting skills here and if you are looking for some gifts to take back home there are few shops selling pretty souvenirs.

The best time to visit Gun Hill is between the summer months of March and June as the weather is pleasant enough for outdoor activities.

It is advisable to pack in woollens even if the weather in the main Mussoorie is warm and avoid taking the ropeway between 4:00pm and 6:00pm as that is the peak tourist time.
