Dodi Tal is a mysterious lake, situated at an elevation of 3,307mts amidst pine forests with the backdrop of Dayara Bugyal which has a serene effect on the mind and body. The depth of Dodi Tal is still unknown. According to mythological belief, Dodi Tal is the birth place of Lord Ganesha; a temple of lord Ganesha is also situated there. Commencing from Uttarkashi or Kalyani, which can be approached by motor, the trek for Dodi Tal is a gradual climb through woods, fields and villages up to Agoda and from Agoda to Dodi Tal, it is steep and through thick forests.

Dodital is a paradise for enjoying, fishing, trekking, boating and bird watching. One can trek through terraced fields and beautiful woods to Lake Dodital but for more adventurous trek route, trek to Hanuman Chatti and move on further to Yamunotri from Dodital.
