His existence has been there for the past several years at many different places of Kumaun but the original temple which has the highest importance is Chitai temple in Almora District. It is around 20 km from the main city of Almora. Frequent bus service is available and the private tour operators give taxi services to this temple at a nominal cost.
The temple is located on a hilltop and is surrounded by dark forests of chir pines and mimosa clumps. Every year devotees in large numbers visit this temple to offer their prayers. Travellers can see court stamp papers on the walls of the shrine. These papers are the appeals from devotees who have not got justice in the court.
