Bababudangiri hill is supposedly an ideal destination to visit if you have time in hand. This place is also a trekking spot for adventure lovers. One leads to Kemmangundi trek and the other leads to Mullaina Giri which is 8 km from Babbudan giri.
Baba Budangiri, KarnatakaBaba Budangiri, also known as Dattagiri, is a mountain with an altitude of 1895m, in the Baba Budangiri mountain Range, which is alternatively called Dattagiri Hill Range, on the Western Ghats. Baba Budangiri is situated in the district of Chikkamagaluru in Karnataka and is a popular pilgrim site for both Hindus and Muslims. There is a shrine located on the hills of Baba Budangiri that is devoted to Baba Budan, a Muslim Sufi saint and Guru Dattatreya. The shrine is situated inside a cave like structure. The Manikyadhara waterfall is almost 4km away from the shrine. Other than Baba Budangiri, Mullayanagiri, the highest peak in Karnataka, is another peak in the Baba Budangiri Range. These two mountain peaks are jointly called the Chandradrona Parvatha Shreni or the Chandradrona Mountain Range. This is because both the peaks are naturally formed in the shaped of a crescent moon. The enthralling landscape and scenery of Baba Budangiri attracts several tourists throughout the year and it is a popular destination for trekkers as well.
Dattagiri Baba Budangiri or Bababudangiri or Baba Budan Giri is a mountain in the Dattagiri Hill Range/ Baba Budan Giri Range of the Western Ghats. Located in the Chikkamagaluru District of Karnataka, Baba Budangiri is known for its shrine which is a place of pilgrimage for both Hindus and Muslims.
Peaks in the Baba Budan Giri Range are the Mullayanagiri and Dattagiri/Baba Budangiri (height 1895 m). Collectively, these peaks are known as 'Chandradrona Parvatha Shreni' (Chandradrona Mountain Range) as they naturally form the shape of a crescent moon.
Mullayanagiri also spelt Mullayangiri or Mullainagiri is the highest peak in the Baba Budan Giri Range. With a height of 1930 m (6317 ft.), it is the highest peak between the Himalayas and the Nilgiris. Manikyadhara Falls is merely a kilometre away from Baba Budan Giri, which inturn is 28 Km away from Chikmagalur.
Baba Budangiri is situated Baba Budangiri to the north of Chikkamagaluru town and 270 km away from Bengaluru. Mullayangiri is located nearby and is around 15 km away from Chikkamagaluru.
The shrine of Bababudangiri has a history where dada hayath came to preach and spread the word of Islam and Peace. Baba Budan was also known for his healing skills. The Dattatreya Peeta, another name for Bababudangiri shrine comes in the district of Chikmagalur. Hardly any buses reach this place, but they are the only options available here that will take one to the dargah. If one wants to visit the place, one has to be here during the winter season when the climate is cold and refreshing.
