At the southern rim of the 20 million year old Mount Warning volcano, Nightcap National Park is one of the lushest and best preserved expanses of subtropical rainforests in the state, 5000 hectares of which is World Heritage listed and home to several endangered birds. Spectacular features such as Minyon Falls and Protester Falls are well worth exploring. Minyon Falls, with its awesome 100 metre waterfall, has two great picnic grounds and an eight kilometre loop walk descending to the base of the falls. Further along the Whian Whian Forest Drive, Rummery Park is an idyllic spot for camping or a picnic. Drive through the village of The Channon to Terania Creek and Protester Falls, the scene of historic protests to save the rainforests of NSW from further logging, is located at the end of the Terania Creek Road. The park is located 35 kilometres north of Lismore.
