Uwasaggaharam Parshwa Teerth In Durg This is a Jain shrine in Nagpura established in 1995. Located on the banks of the Sheonath river, the campus houses temples, guest houses, a garden and Naturopathy and Yoga Centre. The entrance to the resplendent marble temple of Shri Parshwanath is through a 30 feet gate that has the idol of Parshwanath, supported by four pillars (representing the four essentials of spiritual atonement, i.e., wisdom, introspection, good conduct, penance), being worshipped by two elephants. Sacred water, amiya , oozes from the idol here. Hundreds of pilgrims visit this shrine on full-moon.
A beautiful winding road that passes by the gold-topped bulbous dome of a local gurdwara on the banks of the brimming Shivnath river, takes the ardent devotee to the sacred Jain temple at Nagpura, 16 kms from Durg. The temple commemorates the visit of the 23rd Tirthankara Parshwanath to this region around 3,000 years ago as a shraman (a wandering mendicant). The foot-prints of the saint are placed in a special shrine on the right hand side of the main temple, so that it usually is the first object of worship. Within the Jain community, the temple complex at Nagpura is also known as Shri Uwasaggaharam Parshwa Shrine.
Uwasaggaharam Parshwa Teerth was built where the footprints of Shri Parshwa Prabhu were found. Located a few kilometres away from the destination, this temple is dedicated to Shri Parshwa Prabhu. The temple has an idol of Shri Bhadrabahu Swami, creator of the Uvasaggaharam Mantra.
