Ram Rekha Ghat is the important religious place of Buxar, that is situated about 118 KM west from the capital of Bihar i.e. Patna. Ramrekha Ghat is well known for mark of foot of Purosottam Bhawan Sri Ramchandra and why it is known as Ramrekha Ghat. Ramrekha Ghat is situated in the center of the City Buxar and on the Band of the Holly River Ganga. As per legends, this is the place where Lord Ram along with His younger brother Laxman and their teacher Rishi Vishwamitra crossed the river Ganges on their way to Janakpur where he later took part in the Sita Swayamvara (public ceremony of Sita’s marriage).
This place is an important pilgrimage spot for Hindus. Every year, on the 18th day of Paus month (14th January), a large number of people throng here to participate in the fair held on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. On this particular day, Sun enters the sidereal of zodiac. This fair is popularly known as Khichari mela. Thousands of people assemble in the town and camp there in several places and bathe in the River Ganga at the famous Ramrekha Ghat. The bathing in the Ganges usually continues for three days.
The Ghat is an important spot in the Ramayan Circuit in Bihar.
