Parliament House, Delhi is on the north west of Vijay Chowk and next to the Secretariat Buildings at the end of the Parliament Street at Sansad Marg. Parliament House in Delhi is the location, where the Indian parliament meets and the largest democracy functions of the world take place.
The Parliament House of India is a huge circular, colonnaded building comprising three semicircular chambers for the Legislatures and a Central Library and is crowned by a 27.4m high dome. The diameter of the structure id 173 meters and it covers an area of 2.02 hectares. The entire circumference is enclosed by colonnaded verandas. The three semi-circular areas were built for the Chamber of Princes, the Council of State and the Legislative Assembly. Today these three semi-circular areas host the chambers of the Lok Sabha - House of the People, Rajya Sabha - Upper House and the library. These three chambers are surrounded by a veranda with 144 columns and the boundary wall has blocks of sandstone carved in geometrical patterns that echo the Mughal jalis.
The marvelous architecture of Indian Parliament House was designed and built by Lutyens under the supervision of Sir Herbert Baker. Apart from having its political importance, Parliament House, Delhi, is also significant for Delhi Tourism. It is a great tourist spot, as it attracts travelers from all over the world.
