One of the most important religious destinations in Delhi, the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is an idyllic gateway to the religious philosophy of sikhism. Promising of magical cure from diseases like small pox and cholera, the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib houses a tank that is said to have been blessed by the revered eighth guru of the sikhs- Guru Harkishen Dev. The Gurudwara Bangla Sahib also has a museum called the Babab Baghel Singh Museum, which provide a detailed insight into the history of Sikhism.
Best visited during the annual birth celebrations of Guru Harkishen Saheb, the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib becomes the hope of the milling crowds, who visit the gurudwara with the hope of fulfilling their wishes. A holy dip into the pond, it is believed, is the best solution for all kinds of problems. The 'langars' or the community kitchen prove to be the ideal example of the prodigious hospitality of the Sikhs. Anyone and everyone can have a scrumptious meal irrespective of caste, class and color. Located near Connaught place, the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is easily accessible from all the major city centers.
