Koloriang, India Overview
Koloriang is a beautiful hilly district headquarter town of Kurung Kumey district in Arunachal Pradesh bordering China. It is surrounded by high mountains all around and is located in the right bank of river Kurung, one of the major tributaries of Subansiri river. The climate is rainy and hot during summer and very cold in winter.The Bengia, Chera, Nangram, Chello, Riya, Yumlam clans of Nyishi community inhabits the area. People are known for their honesty, straightforwardness and their attachment to their age old customs and traditions. Longte is the annual festival of the area where people enjoy with festivity and pray different Gods and Goddesses for protection and well being of humanity, livestock and general prosperity.
It is celebrated in the month of April every year. It can be reached by road from Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh and Guwahati and other towns of Assam. Visiting them can be an exciting experience and the local population is hospitable. The villages of Sangra, Palin, Deed and Talo are located nearby. There is an inspection bungalow that is located here and this is the only place that offers accommodation.

Located at an altitude of 1,040 metres above sea level, Koloriang, a small town, is situated in the Subansiri District of the state of Arunachal Pradesh. Situated on the banks of River Kurung, this beautiful town is also an old administrative centre.
This town has derived its name from two words, Kolo meaning the name of the person who is believed to be the owner of the area and Riang meaning land. In addition, it also serves as the capital of the district of Kurung Kumey.
Known for its natural beauty, the town is one of the ideal locations for those interested in nature walks as well as trekking. On the way to Koloriang from Ziro, there are numerous picnic spots. Besides, tourists visiting the town can head towards nearby villages such as Sangra, Palin, Deed and Talo.
Flights, trains and buses all are available to the destination. The nearest airport serving the destination is Tezpur Airport, which is located in Assam. Tourists travelling from international destinations can board flights to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, which has connecting flights to Lilabari Airport in Assam, located close to Koloriang.
Trains are also available, which are served by Tinsukia Railway Station located in Assam. This train station is connected with Guwahati and hence, tourists travelling from major cities of India such as Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata can board trains to this station. In addition, buses are also available for travellers, which can be boarded from other parts of Arunachal Pradesh and the country.
Summer is the best time to visit this beautiful town, which commences from the month of March and extends till the end of May. The temperature during this season ranges between 20° Celsius and 30° Celsius.
