Kachari Fort, , Assam

Kachari Fort is a prominent historic memorial, which is located in the district of Silchar at Khaspur. These ruins give evidence of a culture that probably had a touch of Hinduism, but were predominantly Non-Aryan. Besides monoliths, Dimapur contains other ruins of temples, embankments and baths.

In the 18th Century, Khaspur came under the Dimasa Kachari rule when the Koch king (who till then ruled over the area) died without an heir. Once it was under the Dimasa Kachari kings, the Kachari’s made this their capital and later constructed the Kachari Fort.
