The Iskcon Temple is located at Sant Nagar close to the East of Kailash area. The temple is a recent structure that was completed in 1998. The temple belongs to the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, commonly referred to as ISKCON. Lord Krishna is the deity to whom the temple is dedicated.
The ISKCON Temple is also known by the name Hare Rama Hare Krishna Temple. There are as many as 40 temples under the ISKCON clan. This is one of them.
Acharya Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada started The Hare Krishna Movement. The ISKCON temple in Delhi was built by the followers and the devotees. There were many who made financial contributions for the same. The maim aim of building the temple is to spread the message of Bhagwad Gita.
The architectural splendor is worth admiration. The Russian artists have immense contribution in decorating the walls of the temples. The images on the walls depict the different stages of life of Sita, Ram, Krishna, and Radha etc.
The main center of attraction of the ISCKON temple is the prayer hall in the center of the temple. The temple museum is also an added attraction. There are idols of Radha and Krishna.
There is a lot you get to know if you visit the Temple Museum. Multimedia shows are held at regular intervals. These shows are the best way to understand the epics of Mahabharata and Ramayana.
