White River Rafting, Sonamarg, Jammu & Kashmir

The white water rafting was flagged off by the chief executive officer, Sonamarg Development Authority, Mushtaq Ahmad at Sonamarg on Saturday.  Rafting at Sonamarg is jointly conducted by three specialist agencies, Mountain Magic, Pahalgam; Arbat Travels, Islamabad and Adventure Call Tours, Srinagar.
 The agencies could not operate it early due to certain reasons. At Sonamarg there are three stretches of wild water for conducting the thrilling, fascinating and scintillating rafting. It is 3-kilometer, 10-kilometre and 15 -kilometre run, a statement issued by agencies said.

One can go for even day long rafting starting from Baltal and finishing at Shutkari Bridge at Sonamarg. River Sindh has variety of stretches, useful for training the novices and pleasure trips for moderate adventurers and it has some high graded stretches too where three International Rafting championships have been organized by the Tourism Department in the recent past, statement said.
 Sonamarg, though being a play-field for adventure sports, remains unfocused by the authorities and less attention has been paid towards its development.
