Distance: 3 km from the largest city of Goa
The Japanese Garden is a beautiful garden, located at a distance of 3 km from the largest city of Goa, Vasco Da Gama, more popularly known as Vasco. It stands on top of the Mormugao Ridge and is maintained by the Mormugaon Port Trust. It is well known for the ruins of the Fortaleza Santa Catarina, whose walls run through the garden.
The garden is an ideal tourist attraction with scenic views of little islands standing in the middle of the sea. There is a Japanese Garden beach, in the shape of a crescent located close by, which is usually deserted except for a few local tourists who come to the area. The beach got its name from the Japanese Garden. There is also a small temple named Shri Durgamata Shiv Mandir, located on the way to the beach.
