The Archaeological Museum is one of the most prominent museums in that area which beholds religious and historical significance. Grounding almost a hundred of the ancient temples, the Museum serves to preserve the sculptures of the olden times so as to hold up the historical exuberance of the state as a whole.
The museum basically has four galleries, an open air gallery in front and an open gallery in the veranda. The exhibits chiefly comprise of sculptures of Siva in different forms, a forms of Vishnu, panel narrating Bhagavata scenes, Ganapati, Lajjagauri. One of the galleries has a scaled model of pre-historic rock shelter (Shidlaphadi cave) with wall show cases and trans slides displaying stone artifacts, pre-historic arts and their activities. In a new gallery, epigraphy and architecture exhibits are being organized. In the open air gallery and open veranda, hero stones, carved architectural members, inscriptions and pair of impressive dwarapalaka figures are exhibited on pedestals.
