Solang Valley, Manali, Himachal Pradesh India

13 kms. is a splendid valley between Solang village and Beas Kund. Solang valley offers the view of glaciers and snow capped mountains and peaks. It has fine ski slopes. The Mountaineering Institute has installed a ski lift for training purpose. Located here is a hut and guest house of the Mountaineering and Allied sports Institute, Manali. Now a few hotels have also come up. The winter skiing festival is organised here. Training in skiing is imparted at this place.

The place is also well known for adventurous sports whether summer sports or winter sports. Parachuting, skating/skiing, zorbing and paragliding are some of the famous sports played here. Few ski agencies also offer different courses as well as equipment to enjoy but these agencies are active only in winter seasons since snow melts in summer season.

One needs to travel about 10 kilometers from the picturesque hill station of Manali to reach the fascinating Solang Valley. At an altitude of about 8500 feet above the sea level one can enjoy the bliss of nature on the banks of the river Beas.

The Solang valley in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh is a place where one can celebrate peace amidst the snow capped peaks and the lush greenery of the dense forests. The serene atmosphere created by the vastness of the azure sky, the ravishing beauty of the green valleys and the snow lining on the distant peaks can make one feel the pleasure of being in a heaven abode.

The Solang Valley is also the place where the Ski school of Manali is located. There are wonderful ski slopes and picnic spots in this beautiful place. There are various ski packages arranged by the HPTDC during the winter months.

To enjoy to the maximum, it is best to visit Solang Valley during the months of January and February, when this spot becomes busy with activities. This fabulous place is also the center of the annual winter skiing festival. 

Solang valley of Manali is well connected to other important cities of North India as well. There are regular buses plying to this place from cities like Delhi and Chandigarh. The hill resort of Solang valley is situated on the National Highway no. 21.

The nearest international airport to the beautiful hill station of Solang valley is the one located in New Delhi. For domestic flights, services can be availed from the Kullu Bhunter Airport. The best time to visit the Solang valley is during the months of January and February, when this calm place becomes busy with activities.
