 The small village of Payyoli is one of the most outstanding tourism destination in Kozhikode. Located at a distance of 30kms from the city, the village is well known for its beach called payyoli beach. India’s sprint Queen, P T Usha sometimes known as Payyoli Express hails from this village, made her practices on this beach and brings fame not only to the beach or village but also to the country. The long and wide Payyoli beach with beautiful stretch of golden sands and shallow water is an ideal place for water sports. A massive rock 'Velliyamkallu' that narrates the heroic story of Kunjali Maraykar, is situated 13 km away from the beach. Trikkottur Perumalpuram Temple is located near to the Payyoli beach.
