Krishna River is one of the longest rivers in India. It spans around 1300 km from its origin at Mahabaleshwar which lies in the west of Maharashtra till the Bay of Bengal at Hamasaladeevi which falls to the east of Andhra Pradesh. Its long journey passes through the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The major tributaries of the river include Koyna, Bhima, Mallaprabha, Ghataprabha, Yerla, Warna, Dindi, Musi, Tungabhadra and Dudhganga rivers. The delta of the river is considered as the most fertile regions in India. It is also regarded as one of the most disastrous rivers in the World as it causes heavy soil erosion during the monsoon season.
