Wednesday Flea Market is synonymous with Anjuna beach and is an ideal place to go shopping! Buy products like clothes, hats, jewellery, bikes, souvenirs and what have you. As the name suggests the market held on every Wednesday at Anjuna Beach is a huge market that is spread over the Anjuna coast and is very popular amidst both locals as well as tourists alike.
Initially started by foreigners or rather hippies who wanted to sell their second hand items like cameras, watches and even clothes, the current Flea Market is one of the major attractions for tourists visiting Goa. Most of the foreigners are now gone and the stalls are operated by Tibetan, Kashmiri traders along with colourful Lamani tribal women selling Indian handicrafts.
An ideal place for shopaholics, one can buy anything from a second hand bike to miniature items like cell phones, cameras, get a haircut, and gorge on scrumptious Goan cuisines in addition to getting a tattoo. The Wednesday Flea Market at Anjuna Beach is a place where you are expected to bargain and bring the prices down to the level where you ensure that you are getting your money’s worth.
The Wednesday Flea Market at Anjuna Beach is a shoppers’ paradise as they get to bid on some fantastic blends of Tibetan, Kashmiri, Gujarati trinkets and handicrafts, silver jewellery, European snacks, wooden crafts and carving, beautiful wall hangings, musical instruments, bed covers, CDs featuring Goa Trance, artificial ornaments and t-shirts – the list of things to shop is endless and so is the hustle bustle and the noise that surrounds this market. It is a lively, colourful market and one not to be missed when in Goa!
