Akkulam is one of the picnic spots, in Trivandrum city Keral. The spot is developed on the banks of Akulam Lake, which is an extension of the Veli Lake It is opened for mass tourism as such, a large number of people come to this centre to enjoy the calm and serene atmosphere. A beautiful garden, musical fountain and the children’s park attract lot of tourist. Children love the spot and it is always seen swarming with children reveling in joy. There is also a swimming poll to add to their fun.   This picnic spot is only 10 kms from thiruvanthapuram city and is easily accessible by road.

The beauty of this lake, calm atmosphere and also the tourist village attracts a huge crowd both local and from outside. Plans have been put forward to revive the Akkulam Lake and for the beautification of this area. A huge amount has already been invested for the dredging of the Lake and the construction of a walkway.
