Aguada Fort, Pernem, Goa India

Fort Aguada is a 17th century fort that has been very well preserved. This fort and the lighthouse used to be a reference point for the ships that used to come from Europe. There used to be a freshwater spring in the fort that supplied water to the ships that came stopping by. That is how the place got its name; `agua` meaning water. The light house is the oldest of its kind in Asia. It was the most prized fort of the Portuguese and it still stands strong today. It overlooks a splendid beach.
