The Venkatachalapathy Swamy Temple is situated about 7 kilometres from Kumbakonam in the district of Thanjavur. The deity Venkatachalapathy Swamy is also called Oppiliappan or 'the one without salt'. The Temple prasadam is therefore made without salt. The deity is believed to be the brother of Lord Venkateshwara of Tirupathi. The Temple is believed to serve as an equivalent substitute for those who can't make it to the famed temple in Tirupathi, Andhra Pradesh.
Sri Venkatachalapathy Temple is a Hindu temple situated in Trivandrum, Kerala, about a minute walk from the southern gate of Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple. The pooja's in kerala temples are based on the Namboodiri sambradayam, instead this is the only temple in Kerala dedicated to Vaishanavite Vadakalai Sambradayam.
