The great stupa at Nalanda is the end result of seven consecutive accretions. Flanked by flight of steps and terraces, beautiful sculpture and votive stupas the great stupa offers a glance of the past splendor of Nalanda.
This is a stunning, spectacular and majestic stupa built of seven layers. Located 45 km from Bhopal this place is brick structure made of Buddha relics. This structure was built by King Ashoka. Tourists would be amazed to see the splendid hemisphere, crowned by parasol or chatra. This depicts rank, honor and pride among the people. However the main stupa is protected by these seven layers of stupas and the way to top of the stupa is flanked by stairs. Tourists would enjoy seeing potrays of Bodhisattvas and Buddha as they take a glance of this whole place. They would get a breathtaking view of the whole city, as they enter at the top of the stupa.
