Most beautifull place, cave temple of lord shiva and famous for beautifulwaterfall. Must visit specially in rainy season ( Mid june to sept.).The waterfall is marleshwar waterfall. One of the highest we have.
Tourists should visit this place for devotion and natural beauty. It is 18 K. M. from Devrukh and 30 K. M. from Sangameshwar. First one has to go to Maral Village. Maral is 14 K. M. from Devrukh. Only 3 K. M. road is motorway but after that 1 K.M. there is need to go by foot. We can see Sahyadri's huge precipice and river. We don't understand when we reach Marleshwar in the pleasant atmosphere. At the right side there is entrance of cave. 'Kund' of cold water is near the entrance. When we enter in the cave we can see Shri. Marleshwar. Snakes/cobras are everywhere in the cave but noteworthy thing is that not a single person died here because of the snakes.
If we go ahead 'Dhareshwar' waterfall can be seen. The Waterfall sight is very beautiful from the cave but we don't get idea about height of the waterfall from the place. There is need to go beyond 'Karambeli Doh' for that. We get to hear many stories about Marleshwar from local people. On the day of 'Makarsankranti' there is marriage of Marleshwar and Girijadevi. Local villagers celebrate the marriage ceremony with great enthusiasm. Besides on 'Mahashivratri' and 'Tripuri Paurnima' there is fair. This 'Shivling' was in Muradpur at the beginning of 18th century. A tyrant Muradkhan used to vex people of Muradpur. At that time local people brought this 'Shivling' here in the cave.
This temple is known as 'Trambakeshwar' of Konkan'. Marleshwar name may come from Maral village.
