Pawas is a very beautiful and Serene place. Apart from its beauty the region the place came into light when Swami Swaroopanand, a spiritual leader who influenced an entire generation of Maharashtrian population came to stay here. The place where he used to inhabit has now been converted into an ashram. He brought all the people of Maharashtra together by chanting the Mantra `Om Ram Krishna Hari`. He stayed here for a period of about 40 years. Pawas is now considered as one of the most important holy places in Konkan Region. A temple has been constructed at Pawas near his Samadhi by his devotees. The aarti timings at the temple are, 10.00 am, 12.00 Noon and 7:40pm. After The three aarti’s Khichdi, a dish made of rice and pulse is served as the Prasad.

Pawas, a scenic village and full of natural beauty is also Ratnagiri’s major spiritual place primarily due to a very long stay of Swami Swaroopanand ji, a follower of Warkari Sampraday. There is also a temple inside.
