Kaundinya Wildlife Sanctuary, Horsley Hills, Andhra Pradesh India

Kaundinya Wildlife Sanctuary is a famous tourist destination located in Andhra Pradesh state, India. As we all know, each state of India have different districts. Likewise this Andhra Pradesh state has also different districts. We can more correctly say that Kaundinya Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh state, India. Another important fact is that this wildlife sanctuary is located very close to the kolar gold fields of Karnataka state in India. Some people say that located in the Palamaner, the famous town in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh state. Spread in an area of 358 sq. km and covered with high hills and deep valleys, this wildlife sanctuary is one of the best in our country.

The main attraction at of the wild animals is the elephants which have returned after 200 years. Previously, there were no elephants in Andhra Pradesh. In the last decade or so, elephants have been migrating more than ever before, looking for habitable forests. As-of-now there is more than 50 elephants in the sanctuary. Besides this, wide variety of animals like the Chital, the Four-horned Antelope, the Sambar Deer, mouse deers, hares, porcupines, wild boars, the Jungle Cat, jackals, the Sloth Bear, jungle fowl, and peafowl are also found here. The flora consists of Albizia amara, Ficus religiosa, Ficus tomentosa, Ficus bengalensis and bamboo.

The assorted collection of birds from the Eastern Ghats dangles a carrot to the bird watchers and wildlife photographers. Starting from the Grey Pelicans, Rosy Pelicans, Painted Storks, Love Birds to Budgerigars and Cockatiels are all there to entice you. Thus, a trip to the Kaundinya Wildlife Sanctuary will prove to be one of the exotic experiences of your life!
