Chandra Bhagwan temple, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu India

 Chandra Bhagwan or Moon temple is the biggest holiest place which is situated the Thiruvaiyaru-Kumbakonam route, about 25 kilometers north of Thanjavur. According to the legends, Chandran (Moon) worshipped Lord Shiva and took lots of his blessings. It is believed that people who have a week moon position, they normally visit at this place. On full moon, thousands of visitors visit here to see special poojas which gives them a relief from maladies. People cooked Rice with jaggery and white clothing offered to the presiding deity in this temple and makes many wishes to be fulfilled soon.

 There is a common believe that one visits here with a clear heart and pray to eliminate the bad effects, he/she will surely get relieved from his sins. The immensity of this temple where Chandran, (Moon) worshipped Lord Shiva to get his blessings, as the Puranas. The greatness of this temple is that if someone has bitten by snake, he will still alive and relief from a rid of disease through maternal side.
