Annamalai University, Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu India

A world famous residential educational institution by name 'Annamalai University' is located at Annamalai Nagar, east of chidambaram,the abode of Lord Nataraja and a pilgrimage center, at a distance of 48 km from the district hqs. It is started in the year 1929 by Late Hon'ble Dr.Annamalai Chettair of Chittinad, a man of farsighted vision, Philanthropist and enlighted wisdom. Since its inception, the University has grown rapdily and today, it has 50 depatments of study and over 1384 members on its teaching staff.

The University Campus including the Colleges, Hostels and Play grounds occupies an area of about 1,000 acres. This autonomous residential university has two centres for advanced study, one in marine biology and three other in linguistic. Today it is truly international in character with students drawn from overy part of India and also from UK, USA, Srilanks, Malaysia, Singapore, Nigeria, Magatous, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and other Countries.
