, India History
During the age of Mughal Empire, Jaydev Kenduli served as a part of Senpahari pargana. In 17th century, according to a notice by Aurangzeb, Mughal Emperor, Senpahari was included in the territory of Krishnaram Rai of Bardhaman Raj. Maharani Brajakishori of Bardhaman had established temples in various places like Vrindavan and Puri. During this era Jugal Kishore Mukhopadhyay was the court poet of Bardhaman. Radhabinod temple in the village was established on his request by the Maharani in the year 1683 which exhibits magnificent terracotta carvings depicting Ramayana. The temple was erected exactly at the place where the house of the famous poet Jaydeva was believed to be located. The Radhaballav temple of the Mukhopadhyay family was built in the 20th century. Several hermitages were also built in Jaydev Kenduli that contributed in popularizing the village as a religious site.
