Urguelling Monastery, , India

The sacred Urguelling Monastery was built in the 15th century by Urgen Sangpo and since then it is standing apart singing the legacy of Buddhist culture. Surrounded by the graceful Himalayas and the picturesque Tawang-Chu valley, the Urguelling monastery is located at 5kms from Tawang town in northeastern Arunachal Pradesh. Considered as one of the most sacred monasteries of Arunachal Pradesh, this monastery is a celebrated birthplace of His Holy Highness the sixth Dalai Lama, Ngawang Gyamtso, 1683 CE. It is the place where the Buddhist lamas and monks following the Lamaistic Mahayana school of thought and come to satisfy their spiritual aspirations.
