It is also known as the Someshwari River; a major river in the Indian State of Meghalaya which divides the Garo Hills into two parts. Originating from the Nokrek Peak, it runs east towards William Nagar, the headquarters of the East Garo Hills District. Traversing through the Garo Hills it creates many scenic waterfalls which have become a major tourist attraction and pride of the state. Chibok, Rongdik, Rompa and Ringdi Rivers are the chief tributaries joining into the Simsang River and enabling it swell before crossing the Indian borders to run into Bangladesh.
