Raj Niwas, Puducherry, Pondicherry India

Raj Niwas is the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. It is located in Puducherry's capital city of Pondicherry. The present lieutenant governor of Puducherry is Dr Iqbal Singh. Raj Niwas is a place of much historical importance and has witnessed the socio-political and cultural changes in Pondicherry along the course of the centuries.

Is the oldest surviving buildings of the west side, completely French in style where Joseph Francois Dupleix lived. Now it is used as the residence of the Lieutenant-Governor of Pondicherry. Raj Niwas has a well laid out garden with a sculpture of Lord Vishnu (as Varaha avatar) together with Goddess Lakshmi at the centre.
