Mathur Aqueduct or or Mathur Hanging Trough or Mathoor Hanging Bridge or Mathoor Thottipalam is about 60 km from the popular tourist town of Kanyakumari
Mathur Hanging Trough is the tallest as well as the longest trough bridge in South Asia, having a height of 115 Feet. Constructed in 1969, this bridge has become a place of tourist importance. The trough has a length of 384 mtrs and a height of 7 feet with a width of 7 feet and 6 inches. 29 huge pillars are shoulder the canal. The district administration has created tourism infrastructure facilities over here.
From the centre of the Aqueduct, one can see a vast expanse of greenery, with rolling hills of the Western Ghats in the background, and the meandering Pahrali River flowing below.
