The Laxminarayan Temple is popularly known as the Birla temple. It is situated in the west of Connaught place. Constructed by BD Birla in the year 1938, the Laxminarayan Temple is dedicated to Laxmi Narayan. Laxmi is the goddess of prosperity and wealth and Narayan is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who is considered to be the most powerful among all the other deities in Hindu mythology.

Beatified by fountains and gardens, the Laxminarayan Temple is set amidst the beauty and tranquility of nature. It has shrines that are dedicated to Hindu gods and goddesses like Lord Ganesha, Lord Krishna and many others. The beauty of the temple is further enhanced by the idea behind building the temple. Inaugurated by the 'father of the nation' - Mahatma Gandhi, the Laxminarayan Temple comprises shrines that are secular in nature and are open to all the people irrespective of their religion, class and caste.
