The Kotilingeswara Temple is a holy pilgrim center for Shaivites. It is located 45 Kms from Kakinada near Draksharamam. According to a legend, king lndra was cursed by sage Gautama. To relieve himself of the curse he installed a Sivalinga and anointed it with water from one crore rivers. Hence this temple earned its name as Kotilingeswara temple. A dip in the holy waters of the river Godavari is believed to relieve one from all sins. Built in the 10th - 11th century, the temple is a popular pilgrim center. There is a ferry point at Rajahmundry to cross the river Godavari. Beautifully built steps and bathing ghats all along the riverbank make this point a visual treat for tourists.
