Hogenakkal Falls, Hogenakkal, Tamil Nadu India

Hogenakkal Falls is a major tourist attraction near Bangalore. It is situated at a distance of about 150 km from Bangalore. The word Hogenakkal means smoking rocks (in Tamil).

The falls consists of numerous small waterfalls that make this town a favorable tourist destination. The Hogenakkal falls is a series of waterfalls that is spread over a kilometer of numerous rocky hills.

The Hogenakkal Falls are created by the River Kaveri. The Kaveri River flows through a number of rocky hills and forms quite a few waterfalls that gush down many cliffs. In order to enjoy your stay to the utmost at Hogenakka a boat ride is a must. You can enjoy a ride on the coracles that operate between the Karnataka and Tamil Nadu banks. Since these waterfalls are mild, boating is very safe. Moreover these boats are unique in their own way. They consist of single paddles and are made out of bamboo.

Apart from the natural landscapes you can also enjoy an ayurvedic massage in Hogenakkal. Known for their therapeutic properties the ayurvedic massage centers in Hogenakkal are famous throughout south India.

However accommodation options are minimal in Hogenakkal. There is just one hotel that offers a decent stay. It is Hotel Tamil Nadu which is run by the tourism department of Tamil Nadu.  You can also put up at Dharmapuri which is about  50 Km from Hogenakkal since accommodation options are better here.
