Prabal Fort is one of the major attractions of Matheran and catches the attention of travelers. The fort was captured by Chathrapathi Shivaji from the Mughals. The Fort is presently in ruins and is located at the flat top of the hill named Prabhal. There were two gateways and eleven towers in the fortifications and in 1818 the gateways were destroyed.
