Pilak is an archaeological site in the Belonia subdivision of South Tripura district of the Indian state of Tripura remaining dated back from 8th Century to 9th Century. Pilak defines the old glorious civilisation in the north eastern part of India. Pilak represents both the Hindu and Buddhist art form.
Many idols and structures, belonging to Buddhist and Hindu sects, have been discovered there since 1927. The archeological site used to be a part of Samatata kingdom in historical Bengal, and is part of a series of archeological sites that includes Mainamati and Somapura Mahavihara in Bangladesh . The Archeological Survey of India is responsible for maintenance of the site. Buddhist tourist from Southeast Asia and Japan often visit the place; Dalai Lama visited the site in 2007.
