Mukkombu (Upper Anicut) (18 kms) - This dam called upper anicut or Mukkombu which is about 685 metre long constructed in the 19th century. The River Kollidam branches off from the River Kaveri here. This is another picnic spot with lush greenery and a park.
Mukkuobu is located just 18kms from Tiruchirapalli on the karur Thiruchi road .it is situated on the banks of the rivers Cauvery and Kollidam ,and this is the place where river Kollidam branches off from the river Cauvery.
This place is also known as Upper Dam (Upper Anicut).This dam was constructed in the 19th century across river Kollidam and it is about 685meteres long. This dam is diverged into three sections instead of a single long stretch due to the shape of the island.
Mukkombu has other places of attractions like greenish garden; fishing, boating and children’s park with toy train, merry go round etc. Mukkombu serves as a beautiful picnic spot located in the outskirts of Thiruchirapalli for thousands of people in the neighboring region.
