Kalimath Temple is a prominent stone temple located 3 km from the town of Yellapur and is counted amongst the major attractions of the town. Upon visiting this temple, devotees would observe numerous pillars that are embellished with unique carvings and inscriptions in Kannada language. Built in the 12th century, the Kalimath temple enshrines a Shiva Lingam (made up of soft stone) and a statue of Nandi.

kalimath temple is one of the most famous temple with cultural and traditional importance in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. it is the only sidh peeth in kedarnath valley, situated in an altitude of 6000 ft in the bank of holy Saraswati river. this temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali mata. it is the legend about the temple that goddess kali mata killed devil Raktbeej here and goes underground in kalimath and that point becomes a ditch after that it is covered by the silver plate permanently and never opened except the day of navratri hence Inside the temple, it is interesting to know about that there is no statue of goddess kali mata.only that silver plate worshiped in dedication of kali maa.
