Hiranyakeshi Temple, Amboli, Maharashtra India

The Hiranya Keshi Temple in Amboli sees a lot of pilgrim activity throughout the year. Hiranyakeshi Temple is 5 km from the main bus stand of Amboli. It is here that the Hiranyakeshi river originates. There is a temple that is built around the caves from where the waters flows down to form the Hiranyakeshi river. Alongside the temple there is also a cave which locals say can be explored.

Goddess Parvati is fondly called Hiranya Keshi and the temple, which goes by the same name, is dedicated to her. The shrine also houses an idol of Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati’s husband.The temple is situated by the river site of the River Hiranya Keshi and is an apt place to indulge in some fishing activities or simply meditate.
