Bor Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife sanctuary located near Hingi in Wardha District in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is a home to a variety of wild animals. The sanctuary covers an area of 121.1 km2 which includes the drainage basin of the Bor Dam.
It is notable that Bor Sanctuary and some adjacent protected areas will be merged with Pench Tiger Reserve (Maharashtra) as a 'Satellite core area', to more than double the area of that well established tiger reserve.
Bor Wildlife Sanctuary supports a dense population of Tiger and Panther which is comparable to Kahna and Pench in terms of animals/km2. Bor Wildlife Sanctuary derives its name from Bor River which meanders along the central portion of the sanctuary like serpants and divides the sanctuary in two parts. As per local guides the name Bor is due to the availability of trees, called Bor in hindi called Ber.
The major attraction of the Bor Wildlife Sanctuary in Maharashtra is its wildlife fauna. An array of the most exotic, the most dangerous, but the most endangered wild creatures of the country seek shelter here in the Bor Wildlife Sanctuary. Diverse species of Tigers, Bisons, Panthers, Blue Bulls, Sambars, Wild Dogs, Bears, Wild Boars, Monkeys, Peacocks, Barking Deer and Chinkaras together comprise the fauna of this wildlife haven in Wardha.
