Bhimsen Tower, Kathmandu, Bagmati Nepal

Dharahara, also called Bhimsen Tower, is a nine story tall tower at the center of Sundhara, Kathmandu. It is situated in the historical city of Kathmandu, and is a part of Architecture of Kathmandu recognized by UNESCO.

Bhimsen Tower was built in 1825 AD in the name of shah queen Lalit Tripura Sundari during Bhimsen Thapa's ( The frist Prime Minister of Nepal ) Regime

In the ancient time,the main purpose of building Bhimsen Tower was to gather people at  Tudhikel for the announcement of important events, festivals as well as government's nessage ti the citizens of Kathmandu city by blowing the trumpet.
