Heritage Place in Kathmandu

Baithak was established in 1998 and is located at Babar Mahal Revisited, Kathmandu. It serves Royal Nepalese Food in elegant crystalwares and silverwares. Every guest can have a dining experience in a Rana Maharajas style.

This unique complex of old Rana palace outbuildings, originally built in 1919, has been redeveloped to house a warren of chic clothes shops, designer galleries, handicraft shops and even a wine shop, as well as a couple of top-end restaurants and bars. It's aimed squarely at local expats and wealthy locals so prices are as high as the quality. It's southeast of the city near the Singh Durbar government offices.

Babar Mahal Revisited is a former Rana-era palace complex of seven historic courtyards and lanes that has been turned into a shopping and dining paradise: The goods are upscale, but not overpriced. Best of all, the sales pitches are low pressure. Unlike Thamel and Durbar Marg, which are within walking distance from one another and from most hotels, you need to take a taxi to Babar Mahal Revisited (about 100 Rs. from Durbar Marg). Many taxi drivers know where it is, but you might want to take a map of Kathmandu with you to show the driver.
