The Newars generally speak the Nepal Bhasa. This language is the language of communication among the Newars. Not only that, the Nepal Bhasa is also used largely by other ethnic communities who live in Kathmandu.
The name of Kathmandu has been derived from the name of a structure called Kaasthamandap in Durbar Square. The valley of Kathmandu in Nepal was inhabited in 900 BC. The Kirats were the first recognized rulers of the Kathmandu valley. In the present time the valley of Kathmandu, of Nepal consist of mainly three cities namely- Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Kathmandu. Kathmandu being the capital of Nepal consists of all important buildings and offices like embassies, palaces, corporate houses, government offices.
